Forbes: 7 Musicians Nominated For A Grammy This Year (Whom You Might Have Missed)

When the Grammy nominations are announced, everybody seems to focus on the major four categories—AlbumRecordSong of the Year and Best New Artist—but there are over 80 possible places to grab nominations, and there are always a number of well-known figures who end up being recognized by the Recording Academy, though the general public seems to miss that they could take home a golden gramophone. Music geeks (like myself) enjoy poring over the hundreds of names and seeking out those hidden gems that many others seemed to pass over.

Here are half a dozen famous musicians who are nominated for Grammys this year, but who didn’t see their name appear in many headlines.

The Rolling Stones

They might be one of the greatest rock bands of all time, but The Rolling Stones aren’t nominated for a rock Grammy in 2018. Instead, their most recent record, Blue & Lonesome, could win the Best Traditional Blues Album vertical, which is a genre not many people think of when The Rolling Stones come to mind, even though they got their start in blues.
